Tannins, timber, and time

Every hide entering our partner workshops undergoes slow vegetable conditioning with tree bark extracts, replacing toxic chromium salts with organic tree liquor.

Organic Provenance

Bark extracts and slow drums

We partner with family-run tanneries in Tuscany and Northern Portugal who steep select hides in chestnut, mimosa, and quebracho liquors for forty continuous days.

This patient submersion preserves the hide's dermal structure. The resulting temper responds to body heat and ambient moisture, developing a rich caramel patina across years of honest use.

Inspectors grade full-grain steer hides individually, discarding scarred sections and selecting only dense dorsal cuts.

Hides soak in progressive vegetable liquors over forty days, followed by tallow conditioning to nourish the fibers.

Artisans cut pattern panels with hand knives along the natural stretch lines of each skin for balanced drape.

Seams are bonded with waxed linen thread and edges burnished using beeswax and heated wooden slickers.
